God Be Praised!!! As I have mentioned, my family and I have been up North this week. This is the last day of our vacation before we come home tomorrow, and I just need to thank God for this awesome time that we have had. We have seen it all while we have been up here: the Fourth of July fireworks, lightning on the lake (way cool), and in contrast, the calm waves lapping on the shore and the beautiful sunsets. We did it all. We built sand-castles, splashed in the waves, strolled the woodland trails, visited the lighthouses, shopped the shops and just had fun for a week. I personally had many vocation building opportunities. It was a blessing to be able to say my daily Rosary while watching the waves lap onto the shore. Although I was unable to attend Mass on Independence Day, this too was a vocation building experience, as it reminded me of the shortage of good, holy priests. My generation and I must move up and fill these holes in the ranks. Overall, this week was just plain awesome!!!! God Be Praised!!!!!!
Out of this whole week, three experiences had the most profound impact on me. The first was taking the woodland trail at The Farm. I was just expecting this to be a 5 second, “put one foot in, take a step, and take one foot out” trail. Imagine how surprised I was when I spent 10 minutes wandering around the property on this trail. As I wandered, I moved further and further from “civilization.” First, I stopped hearing the animals squawking; then the cars and trucks stopped roaring. Finally, I reached a point in the trail where the only one making noise was myself. Me, Myself and I- Alone with God. This reminded me of the road of prayer all of us must take. We must get past all of the distractions in order to be in union with God (Want to learn more; read The Interior Castle by St. Teresa of Avila).
The next two experiences called to mind the mighty power of God. The first of the two was The lighting Strike. As I mentioned in posts earlier this week, our hotel (very nearly) got hit by lightning. This knocked out our Wi-Fi for 4 whole days. 😦 I had to post from the local library. This meant no long posts. As you can tell from this post however, hotel Wi-Fi is now back on.
Lastly, the sunset; oh the sunset. Yesterday evening, my family and I witnessed one of the most beautiful events of the trip: a sunset on the bay. The colors: crimson and scarlet, orange and gold, wrapped in a light blue and violet sky-this was the back drop for the sun to set gracefully from the sky. My family and I stood in awe and silence as we watched this vista. God Be Praised!!!
So this was my vacation in a nutshell. Please pray for us as we head on home tomorrow (believe me, if you saw our van you would storm St. Christopher and St. Raphael for prayers for our guidance). Thank you and May God Bless You!!!!
Just A Note
Tomorrow, on my way home, I will be stopping at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, the only approved Marian apparition site in thee United States. If I have time, I will see if I can post on site. I will also pray for your intentions as well as all of the intentions of the people who have clicked into “God Alone Sufficeth” while I am there.
