Candle - light Vigil of Our Lady of Mount Carmel celebrated at the Basilica of Holy Hill © GodAloneSufficeth.com, 2011.
Happy feast everyone!!! Evening vespers have been said and it is officially the great and glorious Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!!! You will notice that for the second night in a row I am posting just before midnight; well tonight I have a good reason. I just returned from the candle-light procession and Rosary in honor of the Vigil of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at her shrine at the Basilica of Holy Hill. It was very simple, yet profoundly beautiful. We started the procession in the Main-Chapel; then slowly and reverently descended the hill to the Lourdes Grotto. There we prayed the Rosary and sang Marian hymns as the sun set from the sky. The celebration continued as the Friars offered everyone the opportunity to be enrolled in the Confraternity of Brown Scapular and be clothed in Our Lady’s garment. Finally, as the moon began to rise, the Friars, clad in their brown habits and white mantles, turned toward the statue of our Lady of Lourdes and sang the ancient hymn, “Salve Regina.” Then we each went our separate ways in anticipation of tomorrow’s feast.
Just A Note
The Mass for the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be celebrated tomorrow at the Basilica of Holy Hill at 11:oo A.M. Please pack the church!!!! Show our Mother that we love her. Thank you in advance. I will see you there!
Happy feast day to you too Kenny! What an awesome post! Keep them coming.
