Happy Feast of all the Saints of Carmel, everyone! That’s right; today the Order of Carmel celebrates it very own “All Saints Day!’” Today we commemorate all of the men and women who have followed the path of Charism of Carmel to their eternal bliss of Heaven. Contemplation of the virtues of Our Lady animated by zeal for the Lord God of Hosts and His Holy Church; this is the standard they have set for us. Today, we beseech their intercession and seek to follow their example as we continue on our journey to our Eternal Home.

On this day, I’m sure we all can call to memory the names of the many great Carmelite Saints. We all know of St. Teresa of Avila (my personal favorite), St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy face and Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, just to name a few. However, today we not only remember these great ones in the Garden of our Heavenly Father. We also look to take an example from all the little ones, all those Carmelites who may never bear the title of “saint” but nonetheless faithfully lived the Charism of Carmel. Those of us who were blest to know both Fr. Redemptus of the Cross OCD and Fr. Matthias of the Cross OCD immediately call to mind their memories. These beautiful holy souls show us that heaven really can exist on earth – in Carmel!

To live every day contemplating the virtues of our Blessed Mother and then to take those very same virtues and practice them with zeal for the Lord God of Hosts and His Holy Church, wow what a beautiful life! This is the life I hope to live someday (soon). Please continue to pray for me as I continue to discern my call to this beautiful order! I pray for you all and your continued discernment as well.
